Sweet & Spicy Country Ham

This Sweet & Spicy Country Ham will bring back memories from Grandma’s house!

6 lb. bone-in country ham

30 whole cloves

3 cups apple cider, divided

1 cup brown sugar, packed

1 cup maple syrup

2 Tbsp. ground cinnamon

2 Tbsp. ground cloves

1 Tbsp. nutmeg

2 tsp. ground ginger

zest of 1 orange

Optional: 1 Tbsp. vanilla extract

Make shallow cuts in fat on outside of ham, one inch apart in a diamond pattern.

Insert cloves in centers of diamonds, place in a 6- 7 quart slow cooker.

Pour enough cider to cover all but top 2 inches of ham.

Pack brown sugar over top of ham, pressing firmly, drizzle with syrup.

Sprinkle with spices, zest and vanilla, if desired.

Add remaining cider without going over the fill line.

Cover and cook on low setting for 8-10 hours.

Prepare Never-Fail Scalloped Potatoes for a delicious side.
