Penuche Frosting

Penuche Frosting has an excellent caramel flavor to frost any cake or cup cakes you want!

3/4 cup butter

1 1/2 cups brown sugar

1/4 cup + 2 Tbsp. milk

1/2 tsp. salt

1 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

3-4 cups powdered sugar

In a small saucepan, melt the butter, stir in brown sugar. Bring mixture to a boil over high heat.

Reduce the heat and simmer for 2 minutes. stirring constantly.

Add the milk and bring again to a boil, stirring all the while.

Remove from the heat and pour into a mixer bowl. Let cool.

Add salt and vanilla and gradually beat in the powdered sugar.

Beat until the frosting is creamy and the right consistency for spreading.

This recipe makes enough to fill and frost an 8 or 9 inch two layer cake.
