Pecan Squares

These Pecan Squares have a great butter and pecan taste. Serve these with after dinner coffee!

1/2 cup butter

1 cup sugar

1 egg, separated

1 tsp. vanilla

2 cups flour

1 cup chopped pecans

Preheat the oven to 375 degrees. Grease a 9 x 15 inch baking sheet.

Cream butter and sugar together until smooth and light.

Beat in egg yolk, vanilla and flour until well mixed.

Pat evenly into prepared pan. Beat the egg white slightly and brush over the dough.

Sprinkle the pecans evenly on top and press them in the dough slightly.

Bake 16-18 minutes or until golden brown.

Cool in pan and cut into small squares.

Makes 36 squares
