Parmesan Onion Soup

This Parmesan Onion Soup is a rich and flavorful soup that will warm you through!

3 Tbsp. butter, melted

4 cups onions, thinly sliced

1/2 tsp. sugar

1 Tbsp. flour

4 cups water

salt & pepper to taste

4 french bread slices, toasted

1/2 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

Combine butter, onions and sugar in a large saucepan, saute 20-25 minutes or until onions are golden.

Stir in flour, cook for 3-5 minutes. Add water and simmer, partially covered, for 30 minutes.

Add salt & pepper, blending well.

Fill 4 oven-proof bowls, arranged on a rimmed baking sheet, with soup, top each with a bread slice and sprinkle generously with Parmesan cheese.

Bake at 400 degrees until cheese melts.

Add Ham and Cream Cheese Sandwiches for a delicious meal.
