Maple Frosting

Maple Frosting is a great frosting for cakes, cupcakes or anything else.

1 1/2 cups maple syrup

1/8 tsp. salt

1/4 tsp. cream of tartar

1/4 cup sugar

2 egg whites

Combine all the ingredients in the top of a double boiler.

Beat the mixture over simmering water until it stands in stiff peaks, about 5-7 minutes, no longer.

This recipe will make enough to frost and fill an 8 or 9 inch two layer cake

Makes about 2 1/2 cups
