Hungarian Goulash

This Hungarian Goulash resembles a stew, and is served in bowls with a spoon. Try it, it is wonderfully delicious!

3 Tbsp. butter

1 onion, chopped

2 Tbsp. sweet Hungarian paprika

2 lbs. beef round in 1 1/2 inch cubes

2 Tbsp. flour


3/4 tsp. marjoram, crumbled

4 cups beef stock-homemade recipe

1 1/2 cups potatoes, cubed

1 1/2 Tbsp. lemon juice

Melt butter in a Dutch oven, add onion and stir and cook until soft.

Stir in the paprika and cook slowly 1-2 minutes.

Roll meat in flour and add to onion, cooking only long enough to brown lightly.

Sprinkle with salt and add marjoram. Pour in broth and bring to a boil.

Cover and simmer for about 1 hour, or until tender.

Add potato cubes and cook 15-20 minutes, or until tender.

Remove from heat, stir in lemon juice and add more salt if desired.

Serves 4
