Homemade Cranberry Sauce

This Homemade Cranberry Sauce is full of incredible flavor and makes a wonderful side dish to serve on Thanksgiving!

1/2 cup white sugar

1/2 cup brown sugar, packed

zest from 1 orange

3/4 cup orange juice, from 2 large oranges

1/4 tsp. vanilla extract

12 oz. fresh cranberries, rinsed

1/4 tsp. pumpkin pie spice, optional

1/8 cup grand marnier* or unsweetened orange juice concentrate

In a medium saucepan over medium heat, dissolve the sugar in the orange juice with the orange zest, vanilla, pumpkin pie spice.

Stir in cranberries and cook about 10 minutes or until cranberries start to pop. Turn heat to low and add grand marnier, stir and cook for another minute or two.

Remove from heat and pour sauce into a serving bowl. Cranberry sauce will thicken as it cools.

Makes about 3 cups

*Grand Marnier is an orange flavored cognac based liqueur. You can substitute unsweetened orange juice concentrate, thawed if you don’t have the Grand Marnier.
