Homemade Brown Gravy

This Homemade Brown Gravy offers a great flavor, it is a good one to keep on hand!

2 cups water

1 tsp. beef bouillon or paste

1/4 tsp. ground black pepper

1/4 tsp. Kitchen Bouquet

1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce

2 Tbsp. butter

1/2 tsp. garlic powder

1/8 tsp. onion powder

1/2 tsp. dried  thyme

1 bay leaf

2 Tbsp. butter

2 Tbsp. flour

Add all ingredients, except 2 Tbsp. butter and flour, to a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil.

Melt 2 Tbsp. butter in microwave and stir in 2 Tbsp. flour to make a paste (roux).

Slowly add to boiling saucepan, while whisking constantly. Boil another 2-3 minutes, continuing to whisk until thickened.

Taste and adjust seasoning if necessary. Remove from heat and remove bay leaf, let cool slightly before serving.

Yield: 2 cups
