Chocolate Frosting and Chocolate Icing

Everyone should have a variety of chocolate recipes for frosting or glazing. Try these delicious Chocolate Frosting and Chocolate Icing recipes for a decadent topping for your cakes, cupcakes and more!

Chocolate Frosting:

2 Tbsp. butter or shortening

2 squares bitter chocolate

2 cups powdered sugar

6 Tbsp. coffee

1/4 tsp. salt

1/2 tsp. vanilla extract

Mix shortening or butter with sugar. Set aside.

Melt chocolate, add coffee, powdered sugar, salt and butter mixture over medium heat. Stir until thick, add vanilla and let cool.

When frosting cools, frost cake.

Chocolate Icing:

4 squares unsweetened chocolate, melted

1 cup powdered sugar

1 Tbsp. water

1 egg, well beaten

2 Tbsp. butter

Combine chocolate, sugar and water. Cook in a saucepan over hot water (like a double boiler), several minutes, stirring occasionally.

Add egg, stirring well.

Remove from heat. Stir occasionally until frosting is lukewarm.

Add 1 Tbsp. butter and blend well. Add remaining butter and beat with mixture very well.
