Chocolate Buttermilk Cake

This Chocolate Buttermilk Cake is an eggless cake with a deep chocolate flavor, it is truly delicious!

1 2/3 cups flour

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa

1 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. salt

1 cup buttermilk

1/2 cup vegetable oil

2 tsp. vanilla

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Butter and lightly flour two 8 inch round cake pans or one 9 x 13 inch baking pan.

Mix the flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda and salt in a bowl. Add buttermilk, vegetable oil and vanilla beating until smooth.

Spread in pans and bake about 20-25 minutes for round pans and 35-45 minutes for the larger one. Test to see if a toothpick comes out clean.

Cool for 5 minutes in the pan before turning out onto a rack to cool.

Frost with Seven Minute Frosting or a Chocolate Frosting.
