Basic Honey Granola

This Basic Honey Granola can be varied to whatever you like, nuts, dried fruits or more.

1 cup water

1/4 cup peanut oil

4 cups rolled oats

1/2 cup sesame seeds

1/2 cup wheat germ

1 cup soy grits

1 cup shredded coconut

1 cup honey

1 tsp. vanilla

3/4 cup sunflower seeds

1 cup roasted unsalted peanuts

1 cup raisins

salt

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Bring water to a boil and mix it with oil. In a Dutch oven, combine oats, sesame seeds, wheat germ, soy grits and coconut. Combine the honey with the oil and water and vanilla, stirring well and mix into the dry ingredients a little at a time, when all particles are covered with the honey mixture.

Put the Dutch oven in the oven and toast for 15 minutes. Stir well.

Reduce the heat to 275 degrees and repeat process, stirring every 10-15 minutes for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, until granola is thoroughly toasted.

Let granola cool, stir in the sunflower seeds, peanuts, raisin and salt to taste.

To store, refrigerate in a tightly closed container.

Makes 10 cups
